Change, Our Biggest Rival

Change often brings along with it, a myriad of factors, one of which is resistance.

Think about the time you pursued an idea into accomplishment, and you ended up leaving it half way .

When we’re boxed in with the fear that comes with change, It constrains what we can do . This fear often makes us anxious about leaving our comfort zone . It is the moment when you start questioning, why you started a project in the first place , or you perhaps start overthinking excessively, pondering on the possible “what ifs”.

Try not to fuss about being alone and struggle with resistance . As a young adult, I deal with resistance every single time I’m faced with a decision that could propel me towards success. I cringe at the thought of failing. People may resist change due to fear of the unknown, loss of control, or concerns about potential negative outcomes.

Regardless of how hard we fall, and how many times we experience setbacks, failure ultimately guides us toward success. (You’re almost there , don’t you dare give up now ...)

“Growth and comfort do not coexist.” — Ginni Rometty.

There are times we’ve cried ourselves to sleep and punished ourselves for being weak and vulnerable to life and it’s challenges.

Change is hard and inevitable. In as much as it is, persistence and hard work are two major agents that will keep you on track.

At this point in our lives we feel stuck, asking ourselves these questions;

~Can I do this all by myself?

~ Is this all there is for me ?

~ Will I ever get things right ?

~ Should I quit and do absolutely nothing or do something totally different ?

Now is the time to work hard and work smart so your future doesn’t regret the poor decisions you make “now”.

Effective change management involves; embracing a growth mindset which means accepting the process of acquiring new skills that will empower you to face upcoming challenges and navigate change successfully. Instead of giving up, take little steps and practice self-compassion. Understand and address the sources of resistance to facilitate smoother transitions and successful implementation of change.
