An Open Letter To A Sister

Dear Sissy,

There’s so much that I'd like to tell you. You’ve been an icon since you came into this world. I admired you so much that everyone could tell I idolized you. You’re smart, brave, intelligent, determined, confident, strong, and dramatic, and you know it—you're sweet and bold with a tender soul.

You’ve always wanted to experience the good life, but no one ever whispered into your ears how tough the real world is for those with big aspirations and dreams (maybe Mom tried, but obviously not enough). Men who disguise themselves as friends but are dark demons sent to quench your free spirit. No one whispered while you were away, surviving all by yourself.

You’ve endured every traumatic experience and survived. You’re indeed a hero. A goddess, a fighter, a rare gem. You’re the “it” girl.

You laid a foundation for me; I learned everything I know partly from your experience in life. Unfortunately, you paid an unnecessary price as a leader (well, not by choice). You paved the way, and I watched closely not to make the same mistakes you did.

To be honest, though we might be emotionally distant now, we can never be spiritually distant. The bloodline is thicker than water.

I tried my best to hide my concerns and worries. I feel like a grownup and like I’m big enough to hide how I truly feel whenever I see you hurt, but deep inside, I feel like running to you and giving you a big, warm hug and crying like a baby as you cry. All the apologies in the world can never be enough to mend your bleeding heart. Well, all we’ve got is “love.” Love can heal us all.

I love you, sissy, so much, and I truly do. Even though I don’t show it, I want you to know that I do. I’ve given so many excuses as to why you do the things you do, and at the end, everything sinks down in my spirit that you’re only trying to be seen and heard. Lord knows you’ve put me in a lot of tight positions, but I forgive you every single time.

I’ll never stop praying for you. I know life’s not easy and how you’ve been struggling to reach the top. I know for sure that we’ll see the world that we’ve dreamed of together in the end.

Miss Good Life, I’m the younger version of you. I am blessed to have you. The world is blessed to have an icon such as you. I’m clearing up all my mistakes and learning every single day. You’re a constant reminder that I should be better, stronger, and wiser.

Thank you for being you. The world might see us as “unrealistic dream chasers." Well, well, that’s on them. They can talk all they want. We’re who we are. Sisters for life. Incredible masterpiece here on earth. Together, we can overcome life’s hustle and bustle.

Power your spirit up once again, because we’re on a long ride to becoming the dream girls of our time.

I believe in you.

The universe believes in you.

The whole family believes in you.

The entire sisterhood believes in you.

Stay happy, live healthy, and grow beautifully.

Love,

Little Sis.
